Renaissance Singers Retreat is an Affiliate of the San Francisco Early Music Society. The
Renaissance Singers Retreat brings together Bay Area singers for two weekends each year. We have been singing for 30 years! Check our Repertory List. Directed by Stanford Professor William Mahrt, the retreats are now held in Albany. On September 15-16, 2018 we sang Orlando di Lasso’s Missa Quand’io penso al martire (1569). This new location brought in new singers and a good-sized audience!
The next workshop will be in Albany again, APRIL 6-7, 2019 . We will be singing Francisco Guerrero, Missa de Beata Virgine II.
Scholarships are available for younger singers; Contact Us for information.
Professor Mahrt combines intense singing sessions balanced with short lectures on the music and its historical context. A public performance on Sunday at 4 p.m. concludes the workshop. Singers' Retreats are open to all singers with good sight-singing skills. Fees are nominal to cover tuition and materials.
